Isobar is
a line of equal or constant pressure on a graph, plots, or map. The
distribution of isobars is closely related to the magnitude and direction of
the wind field, and can be used to predict future weather patterns. Isobars are
commonly used in television news weather reporting. The above image is an
example of an isobar of the high wind event in South Dakota. Each isobar
represents a 4mb pressure difference.
