Flow Maps

Flow maps are a mix of maps and flow charts, which show the movement of objects from one location to another, such as the number of people in a migration, the amount of goods being traded, or the number of packets in a network. Flow maps show linear movement between places; also, the width of floe line is proportional to quantity. The map above is an example of a flow map because it shows the market catchments and flows for commodities important to food security.
